Questions about UAE bank accounts

Short, honest answers. If yours isn't here, write to us.

Independent consultancy. Not affiliated with ADCB or any bank.

Can a non-resident open a personal bank account in the UAE?

Yes, at a limited number of large banks, ADCB among them. You need to come to the UAE once, because almost every bank wants to see you at the branch. The bank decides, and it asks a lot about where your money comes from.

Do I have to travel to the UAE?

For a personal non-resident account, in practice yes, once. Plan five to seven working days. We prepare the file before you fly, so the trip is about signing, not about collecting papers.

How long does it take?

For a personal account the bank usually answers within three to five business days after the branch visit. For a business account, count on three to six weeks from a complete file.

What is the minimum balance?

Banks don't publish one fixed number for non-residents. Expect something between AED 25,000 and AED 100,000 for a standard personal account, more for priority banking. ADCB business packages start at around AED 10,000. We confirm the current figure for your case before you apply.

Which documents do I need for a personal account?

Passport with the UAE entry stamp or visa, proof of address not older than three months, six months of bank statements, a reference letter from your bank, proof of source of funds and a short note on why you need the account. Some banks also ask for a CV.

What about ADCB's tourist account?

ADCB has an instant account you can open in the app while you are in the UAE on a visit visa. It closes when you leave, when the visa ends or after six months. It is handy for a trip, not a long-term solution.

Can I open a business account without a UAE company?

No. A UAE business account belongs to a UAE company, free zone or mainland. If you don't have one yet, we can set up a free zone company and prepare the bank file together.

What does the bank look at for a business account?

Trade licence, MoA, share certificate, passports, a company profile with activities, clients and revenue model, proof of office (a flexi-desk is fine) and source of funds. A real economic link to the UAE helps a lot.

Which businesses have a hard time?

Crypto, gaming, forex and anything the bank can't understand from the file. If your model is unusual, tell us early and we tell you honestly whether it makes sense to apply.

Do you guarantee the account?

No. Nobody can. We prepare a file that a compliance officer can say yes to and we apply to one bank at a time, the one that fits you best.

Why one bank at a time?

Several rejections in a row stay on record and make the next bank more careful. A complete file at the right bank works better than five quick applications.

How do I pay?

By bank transfer only, against our invoice. We never ask for cash, crypto or payments to a personal account.

Who will I work with?

With Srdjan Bogicevic personally. You get one person who knows your file from the first message to the bank's answer.

Do you work with sanctioned persons or to hide income?

No. If that is the goal, we are the wrong people. UAE banks exchange information and check sanctions lists carefully.
